Tourist vessel sinks off the coast of Marmaris
A pirate-themed tourist vessel named Big Boss Diamond sank off the coast of Marmaris, Turkey, near Paradise Island and Akvaryum Bay. The boat was carrying 148 passengers, including approximately 20 children, at the time of the incident. The vessel began taking on water and sank in less than one hour, forcing passengers to jump into the sea. Turkish authorities and private vessels nearby conducted a coordinated rescue operation. The Muğla Governorate confirmed that all 148 passengers were evacuated safely to the shore with no reported deaths or serious injuries. While official causes for the sinking remain under investigation, some passengers have reported witnessing a fire in the engine room prior to the flooding. The incident is currently being reviewed by maritime officials.
