Construction of new Archaeological Museum of Cyprus extended to 2027

The construction deadline for the new Archaeological Museum of Cyprus has been officially extended by one year to 2027. The project, which is the largest single-phase public infrastructure development in Cyprus, is being executed by the Iacovou-Cyfield (M) Joint Venture. Based on the architectural design of Theoni Xanthi of XZA Architects, the facility features a near-zero environmental footprint. Officials stated that despite the extension, the project budget remains fixed at its original cost of 144 million euros. No additional financial claims have been submitted by the construction consortium. The extension is attributed to the extreme structural complexity and engineering scale of the design. Project management noted that the coordination between state departments and the builders has allowed for the efficient handling of technical challenges. This development deviates from common local infrastructure trends where delays typically result in budget overruns.
