Cyprus hotel bookings see gradual improvement but remain below expectations
Thanos Michaelides, president of the Cyprus Hoteliers Association (Pasyxe), announced on May 31, 2026, that hotel booking rates are showing a gradual improvement. Despite this progress compared to March, bookings for May and the outlook for June remain below expected levels for the season. A notable gap in reservations for July and August, which began developing in March, currently persists. Industry officials are pinning hopes on a potential surge in last-minute bookings during June to improve summer results. The Israeli market, described as having quick reflexes, is currently identified as a critical factor for recovery. Michaelides noted that the ongoing crisis in the Middle East has negatively impacted booking numbers and staff employment. The association continues to monitor the situation closely to better forecast the summer season. The hotel sector emphasizes the importance of the human factor and staff as the most essential component of the tourism industry.
