Roadpol two-wheelers traffic safety campaign begins in Cyprus
The European Roadpol campaign, titled 'Two-Wheelers', is scheduled to take place from June 1 to June 7, 2026. This initiative focuses on enhancing road safety for motorcyclists, cyclists, and users of personal mobility devices like e-scooters. These groups are classified as vulnerable road users due to their higher susceptibility to severe or fatal injuries in collisions. The campaign aims to reduce accident rates through public awareness, education on responsible driving culture, and increased enforcement of traffic laws. Participating police forces across Europe, including the Cyprus Police, are implementing coordinated patrols and compliance checks. Authorities emphasize that road safety is a collective obligation requiring mutual respect among all road users. In Cyprus, the police are conducting targeted outreach programs and increasing their presence on the roads to monitor compliance regarding both two-wheeler operators and other drivers. The goal is to enforce existing legislation and prevent further road fatalities involving vulnerable groups.
