Power outages reported in Nicosia and Limassol
On Sunday, May 31, multiple areas across the districts of Nicosia and Limassol experienced power outages starting at approximately 15:00. The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) confirmed that the disruption was caused by a fault in the power network. Spokesperson Maria Papadopoulou, also referred to as Christina Papadopoulou in conflicting reports, stated that repair crews were immediately dispatched to the affected areas. The outages primarily impacted mountainous regions within the districts. The utility company projected that electricity would be restored by 17:00 on the same day. As of the time of the reports, the exact cause of the electrical fault remained unknown. No further incidents or casualties were reported in connection with the power failure.
