Severe weather conditions cause power outages in Cyprus
Heavy rains and hail impacted mountainous regions and interior areas of Cyprus as predicted by the Department of Meteorology. The severe weather led to failures in the power network, resulting in electricity outages across Nicosia and Limassol. Meteorological forecasts indicate that an unstable air mass is currently affecting the region. Localized clouds and isolated storms are expected to persist, primarily in the mountains and inland areas. Wind speeds are expected to reach 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale, with seas ranging from calm to slightly rough. Temperatures are forecasted to drop to 15 degrees Celsius inland and 11 degrees in the higher mountains overnight. Weather conditions are expected to improve slightly with a transition toward high pressure by Tuesday.
