Recent violence in the West Bank and Gaza

On May 31, 2026, a car-ramming attack occurred near a settlement in the Gush Etzion area of the West Bank. Two Israeli teenagers, aged 17 and 15, were injured and transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, with the older victim in serious condition. The assailant was killed at the scene by an Israeli soldier. Simultaneously, an Israeli airstrike targeted a café at a temporary port in the Gaza Strip, resulting in two Palestinian deaths and dozens of injuries. Reports indicate that peace talks between Israel and Hamas regarding the second phase of a potential agreement remain deadlocked. Israel currently controls more than half of the Gaza Strip's territory. Since the October ceasefire, nearly 1,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed in the conflict.
