Neymar's availability for World Cup opener remains uncertain

Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti has stated that Neymar is recovering from a calf injury and might be fit for the World Cup opener against Morocco. The match is scheduled for June 13 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, as part of Group C. Neymar, who is Brazil's all-time leading scorer with 79 goals in 128 appearances, was included in the World Cup squad despite missing preparatory friendly matches against Panama and Egypt. Ancelotti explained that the medical staff received reports from Neymar's club, Santos, regarding the injury prior to the squad selection. The Brazilian Football Confederation took over the management of the player's recovery starting on May 27. The coaching staff maintains that Neymar is working hard on his rehabilitation and remains in good spirits. While his participation is not yet guaranteed, the team believes he has a chance to be available for the first game.
