Kalamata man arrested for the murder of his wife
On Monday, at approximately 02:00, police in Kalamata arrested a 41-year-old man for the intentional homicide of his 39-year-old wife. Officers responded to reports from neighbors regarding shouting and screams originating from an apartment located at the intersection of Vasileos Olgas and Kanari streets. Upon arrival, police found the husband covered in blood, and the victim dead in the bedroom from multiple stab wounds caused by a sharp object. A knife was recovered from the scene, which is being examined as the murder weapon. Reports indicate that the couple’s two minor children, aged 6 and 10, were present in the home during the incident and have since been relocated to the Pediatric Clinic of Kalamata Hospital. While some reports suggest the suspect attempted to stage the scene by placing the knife in the victim's hand, other accounts state only that a knife was found nearby. The suspect has reportedly confessed to the crime, though the motive remains under investigation by the Kalamata Police Department. Authorities confirmed there was no prior recorded history of domestic violence involving the couple.
