Four suspects arrested in Nicosia drug and firearms investigation

Police in Nicosia have arrested two additional men, aged 45 and 31, bringing the total number of suspects to four in an ongoing investigation involving drugs and firearms. The investigation began on May 23 when the MMAD rapid response unit stopped a vehicle in Aglandjia, arresting a 34-year-old driver and a 25-year-old passenger found with 20 grams of cocaine, five grams of cannabis, and a scale. A subsequent search of the 25-year-old’s home uncovered six pistols, 299 rounds of ammunition, additional cannabis, and 22 packages of pills. Following this, the 45-year-old suspect was arrested on Saturday after police found cannabis, a scale, and communication devices at his home; he was remanded for five days. On Sunday, a 31-year-old was arrested, with police seizing electronic equipment, including a laptop and data storage devices, from his residence. The 31-year-old is scheduled to appear in the Nicosia District Court on Monday to face a remand request. The YKAN drug squad is continuing the investigation.
