Alexis Tsipras establishes new political party ELAS

Former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has officially registered the new political party, Hellenic Left Alignment (ELAS), with the Supreme Court. The party's founding declaration is supported by 301 initial signatures from various professional sectors, including lawyers, doctors, journalists, and artists. Notable figures from the cultural sector, such as actors Marios Athanasiou, Emilios Cheilakis, and Ioanna Pappa, as well as singer Yiota Nega, are among the signatories. An online platform, myelas.gr, has been launched to facilitate the collection of additional signatures and the registration of new members. The initiative seeks to organize citizens through an online process that has already attracted thousands of sign-ups since Tuesday evening. The party aims to represent a broad spectrum of civil society members under its platform.
