Derrick Luckassen reportedly joins Ghana's World Cup squad
Pafos FC defender Derrick Luckassen is reportedly set to join the Ghana national team squad for the 2026 World Cup. This development follows an injury to Alexander Djikou of Spartak Moscow, who is struggling with his fitness and is unlikely to participate in the tournament hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Luckassen was initially excluded from the final selection made by head coach Carlos Queiroz. Reports indicate that the 30-year-old defender was called up following his strong performances with Pafos, which included winning the Cypriot Cup and participating in the Champions League. While the Ghana Football Association has not yet issued an official announcement, Luckassen has already joined the squad ahead of an upcoming friendly match against Wales. The tournament is scheduled to commence on June 11, 2026.
