Driver causes traffic hazard on the Kalavasos highway

On the afternoon of Monday, June 1, 2026, a traffic incident occurred on the highway towards Nicosia near the Kalavasos exit. According to reports from RoadReportCY, a driver was observed attempting to reverse their vehicle in order to access an exit lane intended for the opposite direction. Witnesses indicated that the specific area has limited visibility due to a sharp curve, making wrong-way driving particularly dangerous. Bystanders attempted to intervene by blocking the road and signaling the driver that they were heading in the wrong direction. Despite these efforts, the driver reportedly ignored the warnings and entered the highway against the flow of traffic. The vehicle continued toward the Kalavasos exit, which was approximately 100 meters away. No collisions or casualties were reported as a result of the incident.
