Zelenskyy claims Ukrainian ability to strike Russian logistics deep behind front lines
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on June 1, 2026, that Ukrainian forces now possess the capability to strike Russian military logistics throughout all occupied territories. According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine successfully targeted 15 Russian oil refineries between January and May 2026. These operations have reportedly removed nearly 40% of Russia’s primary oil refining capacity from operation. Consequently, Russia has implemented export bans on aviation fuel and gasoline, with diesel export restrictions currently under consideration. Reports indicate that these fuel shortages are affecting Crimea and other Russian-occupied regions. In Crimea, authorities have reportedly introduced fuel rationing for drivers due to disruptions in road supply chains caused by Ukrainian drone attacks. Zelenskyy emphasized that there are no longer safe routes for Russian forces in southern and eastern Ukraine.
