Cameroonian national arrested in Paphos for illegal residence and possession of 6,500 euros
Police in the Paphos district arrested a Cameroonian national in the village of Miliou for residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus. The arrest occurred during a police operation targeting illegal migration in the area. During a search of the premises, officers discovered 6,500 euros in cash in the man's possession. Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed the money was part of a fund collected by fellow nationals living in Cyprus to support newcomers from their home country. Police reported that they were not convinced by this explanation and have placed the individual in custody. Authorities are currently investigating the source of the funds to determine if the money is linked to any illegal activities. The suspect remains detained while the investigation proceeds.
