Large-scale missile and drone strikes reported across Ukraine and Russia
A large-scale Russian aerial assault using missiles and drones targeted various Ukrainian regions on June 2, 2026. Reports on the death toll vary between sources; initial statements mentioned at least eight fatalities in Ukraine, while other reports cited four deaths in Dnipro and conflicting data regarding casualties in Kyiv. In Kyiv, authorities reported three deaths and 29 injuries, including children, following ballistic missile strikes. Dnipro experienced at least four to five fatalities and between 16 and 25 injuries. Kharkiv was also attacked by 15 drones and two missiles, resulting in 10 injuries, including a child. In response, Ukrainian drone strikes were reported in Russia, with one civilian death in the Kursk region and a fire at the Ilsky oil refinery. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously warned of an impending mass strike. Infrastructure damage and power outages were reported in several districts of Kyiv.
