Cyprus hosts EESC workers' group special session

The European Economic and Social Committee's (EESC) Workers' Group is holding a special two-day session on June 2 and 3, 2026, at the SEK headquarters in Strovolos, Cyprus. The event gathers representatives from trade unions, European institutions, government bodies, and experts to discuss labor relations and social challenges. The opening session takes place on June 2, from 14:30 to 15:30, featuring addresses from EESC Workers' Group President Lucie Studničná, SEK General Secretary Andreas F. Matsas, and PEO General Secretary Sotiroula Charalambous. Additional remarks will be provided by Minister of Labor and Social Insurance Marinos Mousiouttas and Dimitris Mavromatis on behalf of Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna. A key thematic session titled 'Labor market: developments and challenges' is scheduled for June 2 from 16:00 to 17:45, moderated by the SEK General Secretary. Discussions will cover critical topics such as social dialogue, the Automatic Cost of Living Allowance (COLA), living costs, and the national minimum wage. This meeting serves as a platform for exchanging views on issues impacting the labor sector in Cyprus and across Europe.
