UN envoy continues consultations on Cyprus settlement
UN Personal Envoy Maria Angela Holguin is conducting a series of meetings to facilitate the potential resumption of Cyprus reunification talks. She is scheduled to meet with President Nikos Christodoulides on Friday at 6:00 PM and with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman on Saturday, following their initial meetings last Monday. These discussions aim to prepare for an informal multilateral conference expected in late July or early August. Reports indicate the focus is strictly on substantive issues rather than confidence-building measures. Following her time in Cyprus, Holguin plans to visit Ankara and Athens for talks with the Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Greece. Separately, President Christodoulides discussed the EU’s role in these UN efforts with European Council President Antonio Costa. Meanwhile, government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis highlighted the importance of U.S. Congressional support and Cyprus's strategic partnerships at the 41st PSEKA conference in Washington.
