Petrolina hosts King's Baton Relay for Glasgow 2026
As a gold sponsor of the Cyprus Olympic Committee, the company Petrolina hosted the King’s Baton Relay at its headquarters on the first day of the relay's four-day tour in Cyprus. The event featured the presentation of the Commonwealth Games baton by Cyprus Olympic Committee President George Chrysostomou to Petrolina CEO Dinos Lefkaritis. The baton was subsequently passed to former sailor and Fair Play Ambassador Andros Karapatakis, and then to artistic gymnast Elias Georgiou. The relay serves as a precursor to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, scheduled from July 23 to August 3, 2026. Cyprus plans to send 32 athletes to participate in events including athletics, swimming, gymnastics, judo, weightlifting, and Para Powerlifting. During the proceedings, leadership highlighted the company's commitment to supporting Cypriot athletes for the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The ceremony also focused on the values of fair play and international unity.
