Limassol signs contract for water network infrastructure upgrade

On June 2, 2026, the Limassol District Local Government Organisation (EOA Limassol) signed a €9.2 million contract with An. Christou Properties & Constructions Limited. The project involves replacing the outdated water supply network in Limassol's city centre to reduce water losses and improve service quality. The works cover an area of approximately 2.6 square kilometres, including 100 kilometres of new piping across 220 streets. The project is expected to begin in July 2026 and reach completion within 24 months, by July 2028. It will serve an estimated 40,000 residents and includes full restoration of roads and pavements. Funding is provided by the European Union’s Cohesion Fund through the THALIA 2021–2027 programme. The agreement was signed by EOA Limassol President Yiannis Tsouloftas, General Manager Socrates Metaxas, and contractor Christos Christou. The new system aims to address significant leakages and improve drinking water quality in the urban centre.
