Pafos FC submits restructuring proposal for Cyprus football
Pafos FC has officially submitted a proposal to the Executive Committee of the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) to restructure the national football league. The proposal was presented by Filippos Georgiou, who serves as both the representative of Pafos FC and the Vice President of the CFA. The primary objective of the initiative is to modernize the sport starting from the 2027/28 season. Key pillars of the reform include establishing a 12-team league structure, increasing the number of local Cypriot players, and improving overall infrastructure. The proposal also aims to reduce the total number of matches per season to enhance competitiveness and increase the commercial value of the championship. Georgiou emphasized that this plan is intended to foster a constructive dialogue among all stakeholders, including clubs, players, and coaches. The club stated that the submission is not presented as an infallible solution, but as a framework for long-term growth and financial sustainability.
