Ukrainian drone attacks strike energy and military sites across Russia

Ukrainian drones conducted a series of overnight attacks targeting energy and military infrastructure across several Russian regions, including Saint Petersburg, Krasnodar, Saratov, Kirov, and Belgorod. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strikes, citing the targeting of an oil terminal in Saint Petersburg, the Kronstadt military base, and a weapons-related facility in the Tambov region. In the Krasnodar region, the Ilsky oil refinery caught fire following a drone strike, while civil infrastructure was damaged in Saratov and an industrial site was hit in the Urzhumsky district of the Kirov region. Regional governors confirmed the attacks, with three civilians reported injured in the Belgorod region. The strikes occurred simultaneously with the opening of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, an event hosting representatives from 130 countries. Russian authorities acknowledged damages to infrastructure in Saint Petersburg but reported no casualties there. Meanwhile, Russia retaliated with drone and missile strikes on energy facilities in Ukraine's Kharkiv region. The attacks are part of a broader Ukrainian campaign aimed at reducing Russia's capacity to finance its ongoing military operations through energy revenue.
