Recent fire incidents across Cyprus: Pentakomo, Agios Nikolaos, Kapedes, and Psimolofou
On June 4, 2026, a fire in Pentakomo, Limassol district, burned six decares of dry grass and waste before being controlled at 14:33. Firefighting efforts involved five vehicles from Vasiliko and Limassol stations, supported by the Forestry Department and Game Service. A nearby residence was successfully protected. On the same day, another fire occurred near Agios Nikolaos in the Famagusta district, involving six vehicles, four from the British Bases and two from the Republic of Cyprus. Additionally, a small fire was extinguished in Kapedes, Nicosia district, on the morning of June 4. Previously, on June 2, a fire at the 'Vounos' location in Psimolofou, Nicosia, burned two hectares of vegetation and olive trees. That incident was controlled by 20 forestry personnel and 10 firefighters, with suspected links to illegal waste dumping.
