Recent wildfire incidents across Cyprus

Several wildfires were reported across Cyprus between June 2 and June 4, 2026. On June 2, a fire at the 'Vounos' location in Psimolofou, Nicosia, burned two hectares of vegetation before being controlled by 20 forestry and 10 fire service members. Another fire occurred on June 2 at 'Kakovounaros' in Fyti, Paphos, and was contained by forestry units within 35 minutes. On June 4, a fire in Kapedes, Nicosia, was controlled shortly after ignition by forestry teams and volunteers. Additionally, a wildfire in the Pentakomo area of Limassol on June 4 burned six decares of vegetation; five fire vehicles and supporting units successfully protected a nearby residence. Separately, a fire near Agios Nikolaos in the Famagusta district on June 4 involved a joint response from British Bases, which deployed four vehicles, and the Republic of Cyprus, which deployed two. Authorities are currently investigating the causes of all reported incidents.
