Cyprus tourism data for the first quarter of 2026

According to Eurostat data released on Tuesday, Cyprus had the second-highest dependency on foreign tourists in the EU during the first quarter of 2026, with international visitors accounting for 85.6 percent of overnight stays. Malta led the bloc at 93.3 percent, while Luxembourg ranked third at 85.1 percent. In contrast, countries like Germany, Poland, and Romania saw significantly lower foreign visitor participation. Cyprus recorded 368,639 overnight stays in January, 476,000 in February, and 503,579 in March. Compared to the same period in 2025, Cyprus experienced a 14.43 percent increase in January and 32.17 percent in February, followed by a 36.81 percent decline in March. EU-wide, total tourist overnight stays reached 471.1 million, an increase of 3.4 percent compared to the first quarter of 2025. Ireland reported the largest total growth among member states at 35.3 percent, while Lithuania, Romania, and Luxembourg saw declines.
