Opta supercomputer predicts 2026 World Cup favorites

Nine days before the start of the 2026 World Cup, Opta's supercomputer has released predictions based on 10,000 simulations. Spain is currently the tournament favorite with a 16.1% probability of winning the title. France follows with 13%, England with 11.2%, and defending champion Argentina with 10.4%. Regarding the hosts, the United States has a 1.2% chance, Mexico 1%, and Canada less than 1%. The model also calculates a 35.9% probability that a team will win its first-ever World Cup trophy. Among African nations, Morocco is ranked 12th with a 1.9% win probability, while Senegal ranks 19th at 1%. Additionally, Spain holds the highest probability to reach the final at 25.6%, followed by France at 21% and England at 19%.
