Partial ceasefire agreement announced between Israel and Hezbollah
U.S. President Donald Trump announced a partial ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah on Monday. The deal stipulates that Hezbollah will halt attacks on Israel, while Israel agrees to refrain from striking Beirut and its suburbs. Despite the announcement, hostilities continue in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces remain active. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the agreement but emphasized that military operations in southern Lebanon will proceed and that strikes on Beirut may resume if Hezbollah does not cease its attacks. Hezbollah claims its fighters targeted Israeli tanks in Haddatha and Bayada, while the Israeli military reported intercepting two projectiles early Tuesday with no injuries. Lebanon’s National News Agency reported Israeli strikes in southern areas, including a large-scale demolition in the town of Debbine. Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah stated the group supports a full ceasefire linked to the withdrawal of Israeli troops. The agreement represents a limited de-escalation in a conflict that has seen significant casualties.
