ELAM evaluates options for House of Representatives Speaker election

The president of the ELAM party, Christos Christou, stated that the party has not yet reached a final decision regarding its stance for the second round of the House Speaker election. ELAM plans to field its own candidate in the first round and has invited other parties to support this bid. For the second round, Christou identified the candidate from DIKO, Nikolas Papadopoulos, as a potential choice, either through direct support or abstention. However, he explicitly ruled out supporting Annita Demetriou of DISY or any candidate proposed by AKEL. Christou confirmed he has held discussions with DIKO and the 'Direct Democracy' party but denied any contact with Odysseas Michaelides. He also clarified that any potential support for Papadopoulos would be complicated if DIKO chooses to cooperate with AKEL. ELAM maintains that its final parliamentary decisions will prioritize the democratic and functional operation of the House.
