Armed attack against the president of the Voice of Breeders

On the night of June 2, 2026, at approximately 23:25, Neophytos Neophytou, the 43-year-old president of the 'Voice of Breeders' association, was targeted in an armed attack while driving on the Delikipos-Lythrodontas road. Following a meeting of the organization in Choirokoitia, three masked individuals on two motorcycles blocked his vehicle. One assailant pointed a pistol at his head and threatened him, demanding he cease his public involvement and advocacy regarding the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak. Simultaneously, the other two suspects smashed the windshield of his car. Neophytou stated he had previously received an anonymous phone call, which he did not answer, but he emphasized that he will not resign from his position. Larnaca CID is currently investigating the incident for multiple offenses, including criminal threats, illegal possession of firearms, and malicious damage to property. Surveillance footage from the area is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
