Police investigate armed threat against livestock association president

Neophytos Neophytou, president of the Voice of Livestock Farmers, reported being intercepted by three individuals on two motorcycles while driving on the Delikipos–Lythrodontas road late Tuesday night. According to his testimony, the attackers, who wore face coverings, blocked his path at approximately 11:25 PM. One suspect allegedly pointed a handgun at his head and issued threats demanding he withdraw his public opposition to government measures regarding foot-and-mouth disease. Simultaneously, the other two individuals damaged the windscreen of his vehicle. Neophytou stated that the assailant spoke with a Cypriot accent and warned of future consequences if he continued his activism. Police are currently investigating the case as threats of violence, illegal firearm possession, and malicious property damage. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects, who remain at large. Neophytou, who also reported receiving an unanswered call from a hidden number earlier that day, has publicly declared his intention to continue his work despite the intimidation.
