New phase of Nicosia urban renewal project starts June 4

The Nicosia Municipality announced that the 'Inner Moat Perimeter Arc Regeneration' project will enter a new phase on June 4, 2026. This phase involves road closures and traffic adjustments in the historic center until December 2026. Specifically, Construction Section A3, running from the OXI roundabout to the Kostanza Bastion parking lot entrance, will close to vehicle traffic. The Kostanza Bastion parking lot will remain closed until the project concludes in mid-December 2026. Additionally, Construction Section A2, the exit lane from Thermopylon Street to the OXI roundabout, will remain inaccessible until late July 2026. Construction Section A4, covering the eastern part of Konstantinou Palaiologou Avenue, is also closed, with access restricted solely to local residents and emergency vehicles. The western part of Xanthis Xenierou Street will operate as a dead end with two-way traffic reserved for residents via Areos Street. The scope of work includes excavations for underground utility lines, as well as road and sidewalk reconstruction.
