Larnaca District Self-Government Organization reports energy savings from solar investments

The Larnaca District Self-Government Organization (EOAL) announced total savings exceeding 530,000 euros between July 2024 and April 2026 due to investments in renewable energy. Renewable sources met 19.2% of the organization's energy needs during this period. The EOAL currently operates photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of 855 kW across various infrastructures, including pumping stations and its largest energy consumer, the Larnaca Wastewater Treatment Plant. At this plant, a 700 kW system is currently operational. The organization has signed a 375,000 euro contract with V.P.A. Cypenergia Ltd to install an additional 700 kWp system, aiming to bring the plant's energy coverage to approximately 60%. This project includes the integration of a SCADA system and a ten-year maintenance agreement. Energy production records show 955,554 kWh in 2025 and 335,572 kWh in the first four months of 2026.
