Nicosia inner moat regeneration project enters new phase with road closures

The Nicosia Municipality has announced a new phase of the inner moat regeneration project starting Thursday, June 4, 2026. This phase involves closing the road from the OXI roundabout to the Costanza Bastion car park, which will remain inaccessible until mid-December 2026. Xanthis Xenierou Street will be transformed into a cul-de-sac, restricting access to residents only. Ongoing closures include the Thermopylon Street exit to the OXI roundabout, lasting until late July 2026, and restricted access on parts of Konstantinou Palaiologou Avenue. Works involve relocating utility infrastructure underground and reconstructing road and pavement surfaces. Private building façade improvements are also continuing along the project route. Traffic is being diverted via Stasinou Avenue, the Doros Loizou Bridge, and other arterial routes to mitigate congestion.
