Health minister to attend who meeting in Latvia and eu conference on ebola

On Wednesday, Minister of Health Neofytos Charalambidis will travel to Riga, Latvia, to attend the 12th High-Level Meeting of the Small Countries Initiative of the WHO European Region. The meeting will focus on health sector staffing challenges in small countries. During the visit, Minister Charalambidis is scheduled to meet his Latvian counterpart, Hosams Abu Meri, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding regarding health and medical sciences cooperation. Additionally, the minister will engage in bilateral discussions with other counterparts to exchange public health best practices. Following the Riga visit, Minister Charalambidis will travel to Brussels on June 5. He will participate in an emergency informal videoconference of European Union Health Ministers concerning the Ebola virus outbreak in Central Africa. Conflicting reports exist regarding the scale of the outbreak, with the WHO citing 321 confirmed and 116 suspected cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
