Court rulings on drug trafficking cases in Limassol

Two separate drug-related cases in Limassol have reached final court decisions. In the first case, a 38-year-old psychology student was sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession of over 11 kilograms of cannabis. This defendant was arrested in July 2025, nine months after a high-speed chase during which he discarded the drugs and collided with police vehicles. He cooperated with authorities and named his supplier, citing a need for 200 euros to fund his own drug dependency. In a separate matter, the Court of Appeal upheld a 14-year prison sentence for a 26-year-old man involved in a 32-kilogram cannabis trafficking case from early 2023. The appellant argued that his role was secondary and his age was not sufficiently considered, but the court ruled the sentence was justified. These proceedings highlight the ongoing judicial efforts to curb large-scale drug trafficking in the region.
