Four individuals sentenced for human trafficking in Limassol
The Limassol Assize Court has sentenced four individuals to prison for offences related to human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Two 34-year-olds received five-year sentences, while a 29-year-old and a 50-year-old were sentenced to 18 months and nine months in prison, respectively. The crimes occurred between August 2022 and May 2023. Authorities identified a 24-year-old victim during the investigation, which was triggered by information received by the Office for the Combating of Trafficking in Human Beings. While most sources report the defendants' ages as 34, 29, and 50, some reports identify the defendants as two women aged 33 and 32, and two men aged 28 and 47. The court highlighted the existence of a larger organized network numbering approximately 200 members operating across the island as an aggravating factor in the sentencing. The convictions are part of an ongoing law enforcement campaign against exploitation networks in Cyprus.
