Criminal investigator Paschalidis declines comment on ongoing videogate probe

Criminal investigator Andreas Paschalidis has officially declined to provide comments regarding the ongoing investigation into the videogate scandal. Appointed by the Attorney General on January 13, 2026, to lead the inquiry, Paschalidis stated that the sensitive and complex nature of the legal issues involved prohibits him from making public statements at this stage. He clarified that as the head of the investigative team, he is legally bound to remain silent while the process is underway. Paschalidis further explained that any subsequent criminal proceedings, should offenses be identified, would be determined strictly by the instructions of the Attorney General. The final report for this investigation is scheduled to be submitted on June 16, 2026. He noted that even if criminal acts are identified, prosecutions are not guaranteed to follow automatically.
