Vassilis Spanoulis to become head coach of Aris Betsson
Vassilis Spanoulis has reached an agreement to become the new head coach of the Greek basketball club Aris Betsson. The official announcement is expected shortly, with the contract reported to span three years with an annual salary of 1.2 million euros. Spanoulis, who also serves as the coach of the Greek national team, was recruited with the assistance of general manager Nikos Zisis. The club plans to increase its operational budget to over 10 million euros, significantly higher than the original 4.5 million euro projection. The project includes a long-term goal of securing a spot in the Euroleague by the 2027/28 season. Sources indicate that Spanoulis rejected several Euroleague offers to accept this position, citing the club's development plan. He is expected to continue his duties with the national team through the upcoming World Cup. Reports regarding his age vary slightly between 43 and 44 years old across different sources.
