Seven students kidnapped in Nigeria's Zamfara state
On the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, armed individuals raided student housing in the Kaura Namoda area of Zamfara state, Nigeria. According to police spokesman Yazid Abubakar, seven students were abducted and taken to an unknown location. Security forces were deployed to the area, but the perpetrators had already fled. One of the abducted students managed to escape and was found safe. Authorities have launched an investigation to locate the remaining six victims. This incident adds to the ongoing security crisis in Nigeria, which involves gang violence, a long-standing jihadist insurgency, conflicts between farmers and herders, and separatist movements.
