Food poisoning incidents under investigation in Limassol

Health authorities in Limassol are investigating reports of food poisoning following a wedding reception held last Sunday, May 31. Reports indicate that over 200 people attended the event, with food provided by an external catering restaurant rather than the venue itself. So far, six individuals, including children, have required hospitalization due to severe symptoms, and officials anticipate this number could rise. Herodotus Herodotou, Head of Health Services at the Ministry of Health, confirmed that investigators are collecting food samples and interviewing both affected and unaffected guests to identify the contamination source. A second, separate food poisoning incident at another venue during the same weekend is also under investigation to determine if the cases are linked. The Ministry is currently conducting inspections to identify potential violations, which could lead to operational suspensions or legal penalties if negligence is confirmed.
