Cyprus reports high levels of tertiary education among ICT workforce
According to 2025 Eurostat data cited by the Cyprus Information Technology Enterprises Association (CITEA), 96.4 per cent of ICT workers in Cyprus hold a tertiary education degree. CITEA director Matina Zisiadou stated that this statistic reflects Cyprus' strategic focus on developing its human capital to become a regional innovation hub. The country aims to advance in sectors such as the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and international technology services. Despite these achievements, Zisiadou identified a significant gender disparity, noting that women comprise only 14.9 per cent of the ICT workforce. CITEA is currently working with government agencies and universities to address skill gaps and bridge the connection between education and the labour market. The association intends to continue acting as an institutional representative for IT companies to foster further industry growth.
