Hostage situation ends at California bank

On Tuesday, 41-year-old military veteran Anthony Searles-Harris took ten people hostage at a Chase Bank building in Bakersfield, California. The suspect was equipped with explosives and claimed to have strapped them to some of the hostages. The standoff lasted approximately 15 hours, during which law enforcement negotiators attempted to resolve the situation. During the incident, two hostages were released. FBI agents intervened at approximately 4:30 a.m. Wednesday to resolve the crisis. Agents shot and killed the suspect during the tactical operation. All ten hostages were recovered physically unharmed. According to local authorities, the suspect had a criminal history involving violent and sexual offenses.
