Wizz Air announces capacity expansion at Larnaca base

Low-cost carrier Wizz Air is accelerating its flight expansion from its Larnaca base in response to higher-than-anticipated passenger demand. The airline will add 57,500 seats during August and September 2026, comprising 24,500 additional seats in August and 33,000 in September. A key feature of this update is the early resumption of the Larnaca-Athens route on August 13, 2026, starting with 10 weekly flights and rising to 14 weekly flights by September 23. Other adjustments include increasing Larnaca-Barcelona services from three to four per week starting September 1, and raising Larnaca-Bucharest (Otopeni) flights from five to seven per week from the same date. Additionally, the frequency of flights to Tel Aviv will increase from seven to 11 per week effective August 13. Enhanced service schedules will also apply to Kutaisi and Iasi. The airline stated these changes aim to strengthen connectivity between Cyprus and key European and regional markets.
