Antonis Konstantinidis appointed as interim head coach for Cyprus men's national basketball team
The Cyprus Basketball Federation has announced the end of its collaboration with national head coach Christoforos Livadiotis after five years. Antonis Konstantinidis, currently the head coach of the U20 national team, has been appointed as the interim head coach to lead the team during the FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifying window in July 2026. Michalis Matsentidis and Giorgos Palalas will serve as his assistant coaches. Konstantinidis has called up 20 players to start training on June 11, 2026, at the Tassos Papadopoulos-Eleftheria stadium in Nicosia. The team is scheduled to play against Croatia at home on July 3, 2026, followed by an away match against Germany on July 6, 2026. Livadiotis, who took over in 2020, oversaw the team's historic qualification for the FIBA EuroBasket 2025. The federation expressed gratitude to Livadiotis for his service during his tenure.
