Artist talk regarding the F.U.C.K-SD project at NeMe Arts Centre
On Monday, June 8, 2026, at 19:30, the NeMe Arts Centre in Limassol will host a presentation by Spanish artist César Escudero Andaluz and Cypriot visual artist Charalambos Margaritis. The event highlights their collaboration on the project 'Free Universal Cleaning Kit for Satellite Decolonisation' (F.U.C.K-SD). This project was selected by the European Media Art Platform (EMAP) from 643 entries as one of 15 initiatives for residency and development. The artwork proposes an open-source, solar-powered device designed to theoretically interfere with satellite systems and clear orbital space debris. Escudero Andaluz aims to address satellite infrastructure monopolies and the impact of digital technology. This work continues his previous research project, 'Free Universal Cut Kit for Internet Dissidence' (F.U.C.K-ID), which examined underwater internet cable infrastructure. The artist's practice focuses on themes such as data surveillance, algorithmic governance, and environmental consequences of emerging technologies.
