Police confirm fraudulent messages in the Sandy case

Cypriot police officially concluded that the messages associated with the 'Sandy' case are fraudulent, confirming a 45-year-old woman's admission that they were fabricated. The investigation, now directed by the Legal Service, is shifting toward potential criminal offenses regarding the creation and dissemination of these materials. Despite this, questions remain regarding the woman's motives and her access to specific court case numbers, as she lacked formal legal training. One piece of evidence involved a screenshot alleging a 2020 communication between Attorney General George Savvides and Michalakakis Christodoulou, which is now among 150 files submitted to authorities. Political figure Dimitris Papadakis, who was named in the initial claims by journalist Makarios Drousiotis, has denied feeling vindicated, stating instead that the evidence merely confirms his original assertions. Papadakis has announced he is taking legal action against Drousiotis. Meanwhile, legal experts like Achilleas Aimilianidis have publicly questioned how someone without specialized legal knowledge could have organized such a sophisticated scheme. Authorities are continuing to investigate whether the woman acted alone or was instigated by others.
