Body found in search for missing 11-year-old girl in southwestern France
A body, yet to be formally identified, was discovered in an agricultural facility near Fleurance in southwestern France, one week after the disappearance of 11-year-old Liana. Approximately 170 police officers had been conducting searches in the area, requesting assistance from local horse riders to scan forested regions. A 41-year-old man, a father of two, is currently in police custody regarding the case but has remained silent. It emerged that the suspect had previous criminal complaints filed against him, including allegations of raping a minor. The French government has launched an administrative inquiry to investigate potential procedural failures in handling these past cases. Legal professionals and victim advocacy groups have cited administrative errors and poor communication as systemic issues contributing to the current situation. Prosecutor Olivier Naboulet is overseeing the investigation and is expected to provide official updates shortly.
