Nicosia district organization and architects discuss permitting system challenges

The meeting addressed the implementation of the 'Hippodamus' information system, which participants criticized for merely digitizing existing bureaucracy rather than simplifying processes. Concerns were raised regarding the backlog of physical files and the processing of applications submitted before July 1, 2024. Professionals noted significant challenges in communicating with the organization, citing a lack of uniform procedures and insufficient office hours for consultation. While the EOA presented progress from its first two years, architects emphasized the need for better communication channels. The discussion highlighted both the new fast-track permitting decrees and the operational failures of the current software. Attendees requested that the EOA prioritize clearing pending applications and improve interaction protocols between civil servants and private professionals.
