Deputy president of DISY demands investigation into leak regarding threats against Annita Demetriou
On June 3, the Democratic Rally (DISY) party received three threatening emails concerning the life of party leader and President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou. DISY officials promptly notified police investigators, who visited the party offices to collect evidence. Despite the sensitive nature of the information and the limited number of individuals with access to the communication, details of the threats appeared on social media via Annie Alexui within 24 hours. Efthymios Diplaros, the deputy president of DISY, stated that the party had no intention of making the incident public. He publicly criticized the police force and demanded that the Chief of Police provide immediate explanations regarding the source of the leak. Diplaros expressed serious concern over the integrity of the institution, emphasizing that the primary priority remains the assessment of the threat level and the implementation of protection measures for Demetriou. The party intends to pursue accountability for those responsible for the breach.
