Paphos authorities coordinate to reduce water network losses
The Municipality of Paphos, the Paphos District Self-Government Organization (EOA), and the Paphos Traffic Police have established a new collaborative framework to address water infrastructure failures. Acting Mayor Angelos Onisiforou and EOA President Charalambos Pittokopitis confirmed the creation of a joint protocol to accelerate incident reporting, licensing, and repair processes. The initiative aims to reduce water loss by streamlining interventions in public spaces and road networks. EOA maintenance crews will conduct repairs, while the traffic police will manage traffic flow during these operations. The agencies will also implement a shared system for monitoring and controlling water network losses. Furthermore, the municipality plans to replace potable water used for irrigation in municipal green spaces with recycled water or borehole supplies. Infrastructure for irrigation will be modernized to improve efficiency. Periodic meetings are scheduled to evaluate these measures and ensure ongoing cooperation.
